Fitness Fridays at Knockskeagh have proved a great hit in our school recently since our return to in school education ![]()
Every Friday our school has a whole school policy providing and promoting exercise on a Friday. We’ve adopted the name “Fitness Fridays”.
During lunchtime, we play music throughout the school using our new speakers to encourage the dance strand.
Also, each pupil walks or runs a mile using our track during various times of the day.
We encourage exercise and outdoor activity on Friday as much as possible on “Fitness Fridays”.
Just another reason why Fridays are our favourite day of the week in Knockskeagh 😊

This year’s St Patrick Day celebrations were a bit different than others but it was a day that we’ll certainly remember.
Our school took part in the local virtual parade organised by the Clonakilty Mayoral Town Council. The theme for this year’s parade was “Heroes”.
As part of our parade, all our classes danced to the song “Jerusalema”. The pupils had fantastic fun and made a huge effort with dressing up to mark the occasion, either in the emerald green of St Patricks Day attire or as they’re chosen “Hero”. It certainly was a colourful affair.
The school was paid a visit by current Clonakilty Town Mayor Padraig O’Reilly on the day who video recorded our contribution to the virtual parade. Thank you Padraig for visiting our school and for your patience on the day.
Well done to all pupils and staff who made this such a special day.
The virtual parade is available for viewing below and Knockskeagh National School can be seen around 12.53 seconds into the video. Also, our gallery displays a snapshot of pictures from our school’s St Patrick Day parade on the day of recording.

As part of our ongoing Active Flag application process, we commenced PE Homework for all pupils in the school today.
The Active homework ideas document displayed will be used by all pupils to track and monitor their exercise over the next 4 weeks.
Pupils can select one of the activities each day and once completed, they put an X through it.
Some activities may be difficult to complete at this time of year like swimming for example. So in that case, pupils can complete an activity of their choice twice as a substitute for swimming if this isn’t possible.
Keep active everybody, well done to you all for your hard work so far ![]()
