Science Week 2024

We marked Science Week 2024 from Monday 11th to Friday 15th November.ย  ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿ”ฌ

There was a variety of science activities investigated and explored in each class this year, including a range of science experiments, investigations, science shows and much more. ๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿงชย 

The gallery below displays a snapshot of some of the Science activities that took place in the classes during Science Week 2024.

Science Activities around the school

The selection of experiments includes the following:

The Skittles Experiment where it’s examined what happens when skittles and warm water are mixed.

The “Volcano Experiment” where the reaction that happens when you mix vinegar and bicarbonate of soda is investigated. ๐ŸŒ‹

The coke and mentos experiment.

The “Build a Boat that will float” challenge.

Bubbles within bubbles experiment where the challenge is to make as many as possible without them popping.

The fingerprint investigation where it was examined how to use forensics to solve a crime.

The rain cloud in a jar experiment.

The jumping rice experiment.

The effects certain liquids have on eggs ๐Ÿฅš, with the shell resembling our teeth. ๐Ÿฆท

We also had quizzes, art work and much much more.

6th Class completed a Virtual Mad Scientist Showcase again this year. Their experiments were recorded and the links were forwarded to each class so they could watch them. It was an amazing show and the class did a great job explaining each experiment.

Nature Walks and Biodiversity in Knockskeagh
