Walk on Wednesday

Walk on Wednesday

Last week, all classes learned about the importance of Road Safety, with every pupil receiving a high visibility jacket 🦺 or high visability armband. For our next GreenSchools flag, we will be working on the theme of Global Citizenship – Travel. This focuses on reducing our carbon footprint and so as a school, we looked at walking. We discussed the importance of walking for the environment but also for our own health and all classes took to the track at different times during Wednesday.
We borrowed some traffic lights🚦 and learned how to correctly use them, whilst being a pedestrian or in a vehicle. There were a few games of “Red Light – Green Light” which added to the excitement and the children were pretending to be cars, trucks, vans and pedestrians. All children relected back over the Safe Cross Code and discussed how to safely cross the road.
Always wear a high vis. 🦺 Be safe, be seen!
