Nature Walks and Biodiversity in Knockskeagh

Last Wednesday the 2nd of October, all classes spent time in our beautiful garden and surrounds planting seeds, looking for helicopters and making seed bombs. Thank you to Jessica Mason for a very informative and fun day, we really enjoyed your visit.

Cork Minor Footballers Visit Knockskeagh

Wednesday the 18th of September 2019 was an exciting day in our school when we welcomed members of the victorious Cork Minor Footballers to Knockskeagh. Three Members of the Minor All Ireland winning team, Dan Peet, Jack Lawton, and Ryan O’Donovan along with coach James McCarthy visited our school.

Dan Peet and James McCarthy spoke about the importance of playing sport and the benefits that it can have not only physically but in forming lasting friendships into the future.

We’d like to thank them for their visit and wish them all the best in the future.

Pictured below are sisters Raya (Juniors) and Amy Murphy (2nd Class) along with members of the Cork Minor Football Team. Amy and Raya are daughters to former Cork player Brian Murphy. In the picture, Amy is wearing her father’s jersey from the 1991 Minor Football All-Ireland final in which Cork won.

Beach Lifeguard Talk

We were very lucky to have a visit from Senior Beach Lifeguard Graham Kerr recently. He gave a very informative talk to each class group about water and beach safety.

Graham spoke about his experience in lifeguard rescues and provided ways to limit the risks associated with these unfortunate events occurring in the future with each class.

We’d like to thank Graham for his visit and it is certain that each class certainly took a lot of important water safety information on board from his visit.

Streetsmart Visit

Streetsmart Visit

Streetsmart Visit

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) initiative Streetsmart recently visited our school.

Streetsmart involves a streetscape mat which invites children to carry out typical everyday cycling or pedestrian tasks. The streetscape took centre stage in our school hall and each class visited the area during the day.

When the activities were complete, each pupil received a Safety Licence for all their hard work completing each task.

The visit certainly was an action-packed day that enhanced all our pupils’ knowledge of the rules of the road.
