Sports Day ⚽️🏀🏑

What a day!!
Sports Day was jam-packed with activities including fun relays, basketball, obstacle courses, a bouncy castle run, yoga, cycling, Olympic handball and rock art.

The return to the Sports Days of old was very welcome indeed. 😊 This together with the fun activities led by teachers and the sun shining brightly made for a Sports Day that we’ll never forget.

Well done to everyone involved 😊🏆

Camogie and Hurling Tournaments 2022

Our school recently held internal camogie and hurling tournaments for pupils in 2nd and 3rd classes, as well as in 5th and  6th classes. 

Dick Barrett Cup

Our 5th and 6th class pupils played for the Dick Barrett Cup.  🏆

Some fantastic hurling and camogie was on display all day!

Little ‘Flyer Nyhan’ Cup

2nd and 3rd-class pupils played a camogie/hurling tournament recently in beautiful sunshine. The pupils played for the inaugural Little Flyer Nyhan Cup which is named after the famed Flyer Nyhan who is a past pupil of our school.

There was fantastic skill, endeavor and teamwork on display. In a very close final, Cork gained victory over Kilkenny.

Well done to all participants for their efforts today. 👍🏆

Our school recently held internal Champions League soccer tournaments for pupils in classes 2nd to 6th class.

The junior Champions League tournament consisted of pupils in 2nd and 3rd class and the senior Champions League tournament consisted of pupils in 4th – 6th class. 

There was amazing skill on display during all tournaments. Well Done to all involved. smile

As well as this, huge thanks to the Gaelscoil for coming up to Lyre Rovers F.C pitch recently for our soccer blitz with 5th and 6th classes!

There was some brilliant soccer was on show!

Huge thanks to Lyre Rovers FC for the use of their pitch and to Gretta Cormican for all her help!

Well done to all our 5th and 6th class soccer stars !!

Corn GAA Final and Presentation

On Monday 13th of June, the final of the Corn GAA Football Tournament was played.

The Corn tournament involved teams from 6th class playing against each other.

The top two teams after the group stage games were Sligo and Limerick and the Corn Final pitted these two teams against each other.

The final turned out to be a fantastic match with the result in the balance right up to the last few minutes. In the end, it was the Sligo team that gained a narrow victory.

After the final, the Corn Cup was presented by Mr Walsh to the talented captain of the Sligo team Ewan Knowles.

Well done to Mr. O’Meara for his organisation of the tournament.

Sing 2022

Our production of Sing 2022 proved to be a huge hit. 

Every 6th class pupil can be very proud of their acting, singing and dancing performances. They were truly amazing!

As is tradition classes ranging from 1st – 5th class also played their part with fantastic singing and dancing cameos.

Once the final editing of the video has been completed, our 6th class will go to the Park Cinema for a special screening on the 20th of June.

This year’s production has been a real team effort with pupils from 1st – 6th and staff putting in trojan work. Huge thanks to everyone for their hard work.

We are all looking forward to seeing the finished product when details of how the DVD can be ordered will be forwarded. Thanks to everyone and well done!

Cork City Sports

It was a very proud day for Knockskeagh NS in the City Sports today.

The day started with the girls bringing home three 2nd place trophy’s in the sprints. Kitty May Walsh, Allanah O’Connell and Alice McCarthy. 🥈

The girls junior relay team finished 3rd in their relay. Kitty May Walsh, Aoibhinn Rice, Muirne McMahon and Peggy Collins. 🥉

In the afternoon, it was the turn of the boys.
Benjamin in 6th class took home silver in his sprint race. 🥈

Our senior relay team of Jack Hayes, Matthew Draper Mattie Coffey and Benjamin O’Donovan Bachelet took home silver in their relay race.🥈

Finally, our junior relay team of Matthew Kelleher, Mink O’Leary, Daniel Walsh and Michael Collins brought home the gold in their race. 🥇🏆

Outstanding races by all participants and all our team were very competitive in all races. It was fantastic! Well done all participants and everyone involved in training the team👏👍🏆
