2nd Class Maths Activities

2nd Class recently engaged in the Maths strand of Data. They explored many types of graphs including pictograms and bar graphs.

Firstly, they explored their birthday months and made a whole class pictogram.

Secondly, they investigated the variety of colours in packets of skittles and how they vary in each packet. Then, they plotted their findings in a bar graph.

They had a great few mornings of maths with a fun twist.

Halloween Parade in Knockskeagh

On the 25th of October, we had our annual Halloween Parade. All the children put in a huge effort. The costumes on display were certainly very creative. Well done to all our prize winners this year and to all who helped them create such magnificent costumes.

We encouraged the use of recycled materials this year as part of the Green Schools program. Our aim was to reduce the use of single-use plastics which was one of the primary objectives of our Green School project.

Well done to all pupils who made a special effort in making their costumes from recycled materials.

Knockskeagh – GAA 5 Star Centre

It was with great excitement and delight that we received the ‘GAA Five Star Flag’ as a result of the children’s participation levels in camogie, Gaelic football, and hurling during the school year 2018/19.  We are now recognized as a GAA 5 Star Centre.

The children have and will again be taking part in Gaelic Games activity in a manner that they will experience fun, friendship, fairness and ultimately improve their fitness.  Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sì.

We would like to thank Paudie Crowley for his assistance in coaching Gaelic games in the school.

Lifetime Lab Energy Workshop

Lifetime Lab Energy Workshop

Lifetime Lab Energy Workshop

We were delighted to welcome an Energy Workshop from the Lifetime Lab to coincide with Space Week on the 7th of October 2019. Our 4th, 5th and 6th classes engaged in the energy workshops which covered the topics of energy sources, climate change, CO2 and what we as individuals can do to reduce the amount of energy we use. The classes completed some fun curriculum linked energy experiments, for example, did you know you can make a battery out of a lemon? Towards the end of the workshop, the children played Guzzler’s Energy Challenge, where the aim of the game was to collect as many energy points as possible – and avoid the dreaded Sin Bin! Each of the classes had a great morning of learning and fun.
