We were delighted to welcome an Energy Workshop from the Lifetime Lab.
Our 3rd, 4th and 5th classes engaged in the energy workshops which covered the topics of energy sources, climate change, CO2, and what we as individuals can do to reduce the amount of energy we use.
The classes completed some fun curriculum-linked energy experiments, for example, did you know you can make a battery out of a lemon?
Towards the end of the workshop, the children played Guzzler’s Energy Challenge, where the aim of the game was to collect as many energy points as possible – and avoid the dreaded Sin Bin! Each of the classes had a great morning of learning and fun.

Each pupil in the school loved the cinema experience organised by 6th class. They deserve huge credit for creating a well-run business in a safe and enjoyable environment for all. Well done to each and every one of them.

On Friday, 17th December, all our classes sang Christmas carols outside our school. The Christmas Carols were recorded and a Christmas Carol Film was created and sent to the hospital and care homes in our locality.
In conjunction with our carol singing, we had a bucket collection in each classroom for the ‘St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Collection’. All donations are appreciated by this worthy charity and all monies collected will be distributed locally.
Please see the link below of each class performing their Christmas Carol.

2nd Class has been busy creating and recording their very first podcast recently. It is all about the visit of a spider monkey named Tojo to Clonakilty nearly 80 years ago.
The podcast was recorded in Knockskeagh and produced by all the 2nd class pupils. They had great fun making it and bringing the story to life.
All of 2nd class would love to hear from you if you enjoyed listening to their podcast. You can make contact on the ‘Contact Us’ section of our website, on Twitter, or on our Facebook page.
Well done to all 2nd Class on a wonderful production.

To celebrate Clonakilty playing in the County Senior Football Final in Páirc Uí Caoimh next Sunday.
We wore our club and county colours on Friday where everyone was invited to wear their Club or County colours or their favourite jersey.
There was an array of colour on display and it was great to see the positive impact that sport can have on our pupils and school community. It really was lovely to see the excitement the occasion brought to all the classes.
We wish all the best to Clonakilty in the final and in particular to our two staff members, Mr Denis Murphy & Mr Conor O’Callaghan who are on the panel as well as our past pupil Mr Shane Collins.
Beir Bua!!
