We marked ‘Engineers Week’ from Monday 4th of March to Friday 10th March this year.
Engineering Week activities this year included the following activities: Lego challenges, STEM challenges through the use of our STEM Box, a school-wide engineering quiz, and learning about different types of engineering.
Also during Engineers Week, all children from 3rd to 6th class had a really enjoyable visit from climate ambassador and engineer Niamh Ryan who gave an insight into sustainable development and engineering. Thank you, Niamh for a very interesting and fun visit.
You can view a snapshot of some of the engineering activities and projects in each of the classes in the gallery below.

Trip to Darrara Agricultural College 2023
On Wednesday 8th March, 2023, 3rd Class, 1st Class and Senior Infants headed off to Darrara Agricultural College to be shown around, and what a treat it was! The rain and snow certainly couldnt dampen our spirits!
We got to sit up on the tractors 🚜, it didn’t matter to us whether they were John Deere or New Holland. 😊 Then we went to visit the new lambs that have been born and best of all, we all got to hold one. 🐑 They were really cute! After that, we went to see the new baby calves. 🐮They were too big for us to hold, but we were able to rub them. We were very quiet so not to frighten them. We learned what happens in the milking parlour and saw all the machines that are needed so we can have milk on our tables every day. 🥛 Lastly and definitely the best part was everyone got to “drive” a tractor in their real life simulator. It was amazing to get that practice in.
We definitely have some young budding farmers amongst us👨🌾. How lucky are we to have this service practically on our doorstep! Thanks to everyone at Darrara Agricultural College for all your advise and guidance. We will most certainly be back! 😊

Knockskeagh was filled with all sorts of wonderful characters from the world of books on Thursday 2nd of March.
As the saying goes, “Every book is a passport to a different world” and our pupils experienced some magical moments during our reading activity this year.
Our senior class pupils read a book for junior class pupils this year. Our classes were paired up as follows, 3rd Class pupils with Junior Infants, 4th Class with Senior Infants, 5th Class with 1st Class, and 6th Class with 2nd Class. This is always a lovely activity and pupils had great fun!!
The gallery below displays a snapshot of the colour and creativity on display.
