Wild Work Programme

Wild Work Initiative

Pupils from 1st to 5th class were given the opportunity to participate in the Wild Work Initiative on the week running up to the Easter holidays. All classes thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor classroom experience and they learned so much with Lizet, the programme co-ordinator.

The Wild Work Programme aims to enable communities and empower schools to undertake ambitious programmes that will affect real change in habits and attitudes towards the environment. The initiative is one of the largest biodiversity training programmes in Ireland. Sustainability is core to their work and the aim is to make schools and communities more green in their approach.

They encourage learning in wild spaces and Lizet brought the classes out in to nature, where the children were able to learn through seeing, touching and interacting with the natural world. The pupils were enabled to experience an outdoor learning setting that inspired practical actions and they learned how nature can help people help nature and explore how our small actions can make a big difference to wild places and schools.

It was an amazing experience and we thank Lizet for all her enthusiasm and hard work throughout the 2 days she was with us! Well done everybody smile
