Seachtain na Gaeilge 2025

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2025

Bhíomar ag céillúradh Seachtain na Gaeilge i rith an coicís deirneach . Bhíomar ag déanamh ár dhícheall an méid gaeilge atá againn a úsáid timpeall na scoile agus sa bhaile freisin . Bhí na  bunranganna ag glacadh páirt i comórtas dathú agus na h-ardranganna ag úsáid seanfhocail mar insporóid don éalaín .

Chomh le sin tháing na h-ardranganna ranganna chuig na bunranganna chún leabhair mór a léamh leo . Agus bhuail Ranganna 3/4 le chéile chun Ciorcal Cainte a dhéanamh .

 

Ar an Chéadaoin agus Aoine ar an tseachtain seo caite rinne na bunranganna agus na h-ardranganna a chuid Seó Gaeilge . Bhí dánta, scéalta,amhráin,damhsa agus seanfhocail le chlóisteail ó na leanaí . Bhí siad go léir ar fheabhas ar fad .

Focail freisin faoi Rang a 4 a rinne a cluichí Gaeilge féin i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge . Feith an ghnó agus cruthaíocht atá acu go léir .

 

Míle buíochas chuig go Kay O’ Floinn  agus a ceoltoirí a sheineann amhráin gaelacha éagsúla agus a rinne damhsa gealacha .

St Patricks Day 2025

St Patrick’s Day parade this year was something to cherish with so many colourful and vibrant entries. 

The theme for this year’s St Patricks parade celebrated Irish Folklore “Béaloideas”.

As part of our parade entry,  the pupils made a huge effort and dressed up as characters from different Irish stories and folklore. Our slogan was “Celebrating Irish Folklore”. The pupils wore colourful masks adn costumes depicting stories like the story of Cúchulainn, Leprechauns, the Children of Lir and the Salmon of Knowledge.  As well as this, our pupils learned a dance routine to the song “Galway Girl” by Ed Shearan. It was an amazing spectacle and huge thanks must go to Miss Ambrose for her help with the routine and of course, our fantastic pupils who performed it so well on the day.

Well done to all pupils and staff who made this such a special day.

Trip to Darrara Agricultural College

Trip to Darrara Agricultural College 2025

On Tuesday 11th March, 2025, Senior Infants headed off to Darrara Agricultural College to be shown around, and what a treat it was! The sun was shining all day for us!

We got to sit up on the tractors 🚜, it didn’t matter to us whether they were John Deere or New Holland. 😊 Then we went to visit the new lambs that have been born and best of all, we all got to hold one. 🐑 They were really cute! After that, we went to see the new baby calves. 🐮They were too big for us to hold, but we were able to rub them. We were very quiet so not to frighten them. We learned what happens in the milking parlour and saw all the machines that are needed so we can have milk on our tables every day. 🥛 Lastly and definitely the best part was everyone got to “drive” a tractor in their real life simulator. It was amazing to get that practice in.

We definitely have some young budding farmers amongst us👨‍🌾. How lucky are we to have this service practically on our doorstep! Thanks to everyone at Darrara Agricultural College for all your advise and guidance. We will most certainly be back! 😊

FAI Soccer 2025

Our school soccer teams competed in the FAI Primary 5 a-side County Qualifiers recently in Clonakilty RFC. 

Both our girls and boys’ teams played really well in the tournaments and all teams’ efforts were rewarded with positive results in the group stages.
We had two boys teams and two girls teams representing our school which was fantastic to see.
One Knockskeagh NS girls team made it all the way to the final just losing out to Laragh NS by the slightest of margins in the end.
Well done to all teams who performed very well and displayed a great attitude throughout the tournaments.

Gymnastics

Gymnastics

We were delighted to welcome Coach Aoife back to our school for gymnastics during January and February this year.

Aoife has taught gymnastics skills to all classes every Monday over the course of these two months.

The improvements in pupils, strength, flexibility and co-ordination has been fantastic to see.

In addition to these skills, teamwork is so important during the formation of the “human pyramid”  as can be seen in our gallery below. 

Our pupils loved the high level of gymnastics on offer and we thank Aoife for providing fun and challenging sessions in a safe way. 😀

Road Safety Authority Visit

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) recently visited our school with all classes learning about the importance of road safety in an age-appropriate way.  🚗

We discussed how to safely get to and from school, how to cross the road safely, the importance of zebra crossings and how to correctly use them, safe cycling skills🚲 and how to be safe when you are a passenger in a car.🚗 These vital skills are essential to keep us all safe on our roads. 

The visit certainly enhanced all our pupils’ knowledge of the rules of the road.

Thank you very much to the RSA for giving us these life-saving tools!
