All our classes have been taking part in the Active Break Challenge recently.
The goal is to promote regular Active Breaks each day over the month.
Classes have been dancing, running, and completing exercise circuits between subjects daily.
Our Active School Committee has been busy reminding our classes about the benefits of this regular movement and has been rewarding classes with stars to go toward our ‘Class of the Week’ tally.
Our classes have been using the Dare to Believe Olympic Movement Breaks as part of the challenge too. These have proven to be a real hit in all our classrooms. The Olympic Movement Breaks are a series of short videos led by Olympians and High-Performance athletes demonstrating fun exercises and activities in a variety of different sports including athletics, boxing, rugby sevens, swimming, breakdancing, and para powerlifting.
Please see a short snippet of our 2nd and 3rd classes enjoying these fabulous classroom based movement videos.

Coaches from Warrior Martial Arts have continued their annual visit to our school during this term.
All pupils from Junior Infants to 6th class have Taekwondo every Thursday at the moment.
Our pupils love these sessions. Over the years our pupils have so much fun in these sessions.
But the benefits to our pupil’s self-esteem and general fitness levels are clear to be seen too.
Well done everyone and thank you to all involved in coaching these fun sessions during this term. 😀

Our Halloween Parade took place today in our school yard and it was fantastic entertainment. Midway through the rain started to fall but thankfully the ‘Ghoulish Gathering’ was able to continue in our hall.
There was an abundance of creativity, color, and fun on display.
We must say a huge well done to all at home who helped create such magnificent costumes (and some terrifying ones too). No doubt it was difficult putting together the final touches this morning 😁
We encouraged the use of recycled costumes this year as part of our Green Schools initiative and the standard was extremely high this year. The judges had a tough job on their hands to pick award winners from all these amazing creations.
As well as this, our active school committee placed exercise stations around our track which were used all week in the lead-up to Halloween break by our classes.
Please see our Monster Parade video and picture gallery below for a snapshot of some of the amazing costumes around our school today.
We hope all pupils, parents, and staff enjoy a well-earned rest during the midterm break.
Happy Halloween![]()

Our camogie team represented our school in the new West Cork Sciath na Scol camogie competition at Enniskeane today.
After the grading competition a few weeks ago, we were placed in Division 2 which included another three schools, Laragh NS, Timoleague NS, and St Marys, Enniskeane.
Unfortunately, the weather made for very tough conditions for the teams. However, our team can be very proud of their performances against Laragh NS and St Marys, Enniskeane. They played with such enthusiasm and displayed some fantastic skills on the field in both games.
The Timoleague NS team went on to win the cup final against Laragh NS after a fine display, so very well done to them.
Well done to all Knockskeagh NS panel members on the day. We are very proud of them.
Sciath na Scoil Camogie Panel members are as follows; Siobhán McCarthy, Ella Coakley, Laoise Ryan, Peggy Collins, Leanne Walsh, Amber Horgan, Tiegan O’Driscoll, Aoibhinn Rice, Ruby McCarthy, Aideen Murphy, Rosie Scott and Muirne McMahon.
