Bike Day

To mark the start of Bike Week this week, Ulick of Bike Wizards helped to teach our pupils cycling skills for Junior Infants to 4th Class

The classes really enjoyed the challenges that Ulick set in each lesson. They learned about balance, braking, and turning skills 🚴‍♀️
Thank you so much to Ulick for his fun and informative visit and to all parents who supported us by bringing in pupils’ bicycles.

We had a jam-packed week of movement, exercise, and fun this week in Knockskeagh NS.

Tennis, hockey, dance, a Peil-a-thon, cycling, and table tennis were some of the activities enjoyed by pupils. ⚽️🎾🏓🚴‍♀️🏒
Even our Class of the Week 4th Class (luckily 😉😉) got the upper hand on our staff in a basketball free throw competition today! Great job 4th Class 👌
Well done to our Active Schools Team for all their organisation of the week👏

Peil-a-thon

As part of Active Flag week – All our classes took part in a Peil-a-thon.

Our junior classes practiced their shooting and catching skills with Conan. Our senior classes used our newly erected goalposts to practice their football skills. Many thanks to both Ballinascarthy and Clonakilty GAA clubs for their kind donations towards these goals.

10 @ 10

As part of Active Week, every class completed their 10 @ 10 with the help of our Active Schools Team.

Run Around Ireland Challenge

Our recent ‘Run Around Ireland’ Challenge came to its conclusion during Active Week.
All classes ran, walked, and jogged laps of our track over the last month and reached some scenic Irish places along each of their routes.

Well done to all pupils and staff for their efforts this year!!

Our Active Schools Team helped form this art display to take account of the destinations reached by all our classes too.

Well done guys, it really is fantastic.

Active Stations

Our Active Flag Team arranged stations activities for Junior Infants to 3rd Class.

Fun activities were organised by the team and it was excellent to see how each of the team was so helpful.

Table Tennis Takeover

Some of our classes used our new retractable table tennis nets and bats kindly donated by Active Schools during the week.

It really was so much fun!!

Also, our Active Flag Team organized benches in our school yard for senior classes to play table tennis at lunchtime too.

Sciath na Scoil

Friday the 12th of May saw the Senior Boys from Knockskeagh N.S play in the Sciath na Scol Round Robin . It was a glorious day in Ahamilla and the football matched the weather conditions .

In our first game we plalyed our near neighbours Gaelscoil Mhichíl Uí Choileáin Cloch na Coíllte . Knockskeagh playing against a stiff breeze in the first half were slow to settle and the Gaelscoil kept the scoreboard ticking over and crucially scoring 1 – 4 with the breeze to their backs . However our boys showed tremendous spirit defending as a team led by the heroic Brian Crowley and Rory Harte at the back .Oran O’ Sullivan, Matthew Kelleher and Donnachá Ryan covering acres in an effort to repel the boys in the Emerald Green . Patrick O’ Leary was a safe pair of hands throughout making some fine saves .
In the second half Knockskeagh got to work on the scoreboard . Matthew Kelleher getting us off the mark . Mattie Coffey scored a brace of points as Knockskeagh were now finding their groove . Michael Collins covering every blade of grass and executing some terrific blocks .
Daniel Walsh Barry Rory Connolly were now getting more change in the half forward line . Sonny Ryan and Donnachá Straight were a constant thorn in Gaelscoil rearguard . Colin Maloney’s introduction saw him when great possession and he linked seamlessly with who crashed the ball to our neighbour’s net . The boys in purple and green were now really moving and Matthew Kelleher billowed the net with a pile driver from 45 yards out but the Gaelscoil grabbed two more goals and time ran out on Knockskeagh .

Next up for Knockseagh were Timoleague National School .Timoleague took control of proceedings with the aid of a strong breeze , Knockskeagh defended well with Brian Crowley leading the defence . He had great help from Daniel Walsh ,Oran O’ Sullivan, Rory Harte and Patrick O’ Leary . Whilst Sonny Ryan was a safe pair of hands at number one . Michael Collins was once again blocking and Mattie Coffey working hard in the middle . Colin Maloney put the Timoleague rearguard under pressure . Daire O’ Neill worked very hard .At Halftime Knockskeagh trailed the Timoleague boys by four points . In the second half Knockskeagh played heroically, the Connolly brothers grabbing a goal each to put Knockskeagh roaring back into the game . Desmond Barrett grabbed loads of possession and used it wisely. Knockskeagh led by a point as time ebbed away but Timoleague grabbed an equaliser with the last kick of the game .

In our final game we played Ardagh N.S this was a tight game with both teams playing lovely passages of football . Rosscarbery won by seven points .
